For Microsoft Outlook 2010/2013, please look at the following figure -:

        - Go to File > Options > Advance and then see in "Outlook start and exit", do not mark on "Empty Deleted Items folders when exiting Outlook" and then click "OK".

For OWA or exchange 2013, please look at the following figure -:

        - Go to Options > Settings > Mail and then see in "message options", do not mark on "Empty the Deleted Items folders when I sign out" and then click "SAVE".
